Wildflame partners with Celebro for US push

Welsh indie ties with studio and facilities company

Cardiff-based Wildflame Productions has tied with global media company Celebro to fuel its push into the US.

The union is a part of the indie’s international expansion plans and gives Wildflame a “substantive” base in the US and a partnership from which to develop and deliver programmes for the US and international market.

The duo will share each other’s production facilities across the US and Wales, respectively, as well as staff and office space. There is also the potential for Wildflame and Celebro to develop and pitch projects together.

Celebro provides facilities and studios for global broadcasters including BBC News, Fox News, Channel 4, France 24 and Al Jazeera.

Wildflame has secured a number of factual commissions with UK and international broadcasters, including Secrets of the Celtic Grave (Smithsonian Channel and S4C/Discovery), Yellowstone Supervolcano: American Doomsday (Discovery+) and the recently announced Dare to Dance for BBC Wales.

Wildflame chief executive Paul Islwyn Thomas said: “Our partnership with Celebro will enable us to get so much closer to the broadcasters and audiences we are serving and give us market-specific knowledge and expertise.”

Creative director Llinos Griffin-Williams added: “Their wealth of experience across both creative and facilities gives them a 360º understanding of broadcasters’ needs and a creative mindset informed by technology and innovation. It’s a very powerful combination.”

Celebro chief exec Wesley Dodd said that Wildflame has the “right approach” in making high-profile international commissions, with an “outstanding” development slate and a clear understanding of what it offers the international marketplace “and American broadcasters, in particular”.

  • The atmosphere at MPTS has been amazing this year. MPTS is definitely one of the industry’s most diverse shows, if not the most diverse, both in terms of attendees and panelists. A huge amount of work goes into making sure that there is equal representation across an extensive conference programme.

  • I think this year 2024 is probably the most innovative, cutting-edge, head-of-the-curve MPTS that I’ve exhibited at so far. I think even compared to last year, attendees really know what they’re looking for when it comes to cloud, AI, virtual production, all of the buzz words, all of the emerging technologies, everyone’s really embraced it.
