Audio UK boss to step down
Audio UK managing director Will Jackson, a key player in forging the £3m Audio Content Fund, is stepping down after seven years.
Jackson will leave at the end of the month to join Anglia Ruskin University, with his two-days-a-week role temporarily filled by policy and communications advisor Tim Wilson while the body seeks a permanent replacement.
Jackson has been heading up Audio UK for seven years, during which time he helped secure the £3m Audio Content Fund for commercial radio, which runs concurrently with the larger £57m Young Audiences Content Fund for children’s TV.
He most recently led on the body’s pandemic response, including the creation of an Audio & Radio Emergency Fund, and previously implemented the radio commissioning framework complete with 60% competition target.
Audio UK chair Kellie While thanked Jackson for “immeasurable hard work that has helped make the organisation what it is today”.
“We look forward to our next chapter as we seek to take full advantage of the opportunities presented by new partnerships with commercial radio and the rise of podcasting and audiobooks,” added While.
