State of the Nation: Post Production
This session takes the temperature of the post-production market as we approach the middle of 2024. The year was predicted to have a challenging start for post-production facilities, with a lack of work coming through to post due to the ongoing commissioning slowdown, and projects still not yet having finished production following the 2023 writers and actors strikes. Are productions now starting to fill up post houses? Is it anticipated there will soon be a traffic jam of productions awaiting post-production, mirroring the post-pandemic return the industry witnessed in 2021/22? How are post houses gearing up for this? The session will also look at the tech impacting post in 2024; If and how facilities are adopting the latest GenAI developments and hybrid/cloud-working to add efficiencies and help enable creativity? Furthermore, we’ll look at the talent shortage in post-production and what practical measures are being taken to skill up the next generation of editors, colourists and engineers.
